It’s been ten crazy years since I finished my MSc in Multimedia Systems in Trinity College Dublin and all I have to show for it is this blog, a few crap videos on YouTube oh yeah and a job 🙂
In fact it’s been my crazy mix of talents and subsequent qualifications that got me through the jobs I’ve done before to where I am today. There are not that many people out there who know a thing or two (literally :)) about the interwebs and can speak fluent Irish for example.
More importantly I met Himself the summer I was completing my masters. Had he not been up to scratch the masters drawing to a close would have been the perfect excuse to give him the heave ho but he was worth hanging onto. We subsequently had the two nippers, got married, bought a house, got a cat etc. (I’ve been using Twitter too much lately. I just summed up my life over the last ten years in less than 140 characters. Hmmm.)
So a lot has happened and many of the people who I met on that course became great friends who shared in many of the subsequent joyous moments in my life. Many more of them, because of circumstances, distance, their own crazy lives, either slipped off my radar altogether or wander on and off it and I sometimes think it would be great craic to catch up. Last winter I got to thinking that I must not be the only one who thinks this, got on the blower/ email to one or two of my former classmates and it turns out I’m not alone.
A reunion is planned, details to be confirmed, for September 12th in Dublin. If you are an alumnus of the MSc in Multimedis Systems Class of 99 (or indeed one of our lecturers!) leave a comment below and mark it not fur publication if you just want to be added to the mailing list.
And now all I have to do is find a venue…
